Farrells scoops planning for Folkestone masterplan

Farrells has won planning for a masterplan to reconnect the town of Folkestone with the seafront

The plans, whiwhc were granted outline planning permission by Shepway District Council last week, include new public spaces and gardens, a water sports centre, shops, bars and restaurants, and housing.

In a statement the practice said: ‘The masterplan aims to reconnect Folkestone with its seafront, creating an exemplary development and building on its rich local heritage and existing natural environment.’

John Letherland, partner at Farrells added: ‘We’ve succeeded in establishing an exciting blueprint for the future of Folkestone Seafront, one that will help define the town for generations to come.

‘Now we want to work with the people of Folkestone and other stakeholders to continue to transform the town and to make it a better place to live, work, visit and study.’

Plans for the regeneration and development of the seafront were commissioned by Roger De Haan, owner of The Folkestone Harbour Company and former chairman of Saga Group, Folkestone’s largest employer.
