Education to follow BCO lead

Secret talks are under way to set up the educational equivalent of the British Council of Offices (BCO), the AJ has learned.

Education gurus are set to launch the British Council of School Environments next month.

It is understood that quango School Works, a series of educational built environment experts, and a group of specialist architects are working on the initiative.

According to a source, the new organisation will take the BCO as its model in the way it will work to improve standards in school design and construction.

The BCO's membership includes architects, lawyers, surveyors, financial institutions and public agencies.

It organises conferences and seminars, and lobbies clients and the government to improve the quality of British offices.
