DLG on the waterfront for Huddersfield regeneration

DLG Architects has released this image after being appointed to masterplan a £200 million waterside regeneration project in Huddersfield.

It was announced yesterday that the 5ha 'Waterfront Quarter' will be the town's biggest ever regeneration project when it is complete.

The scheme will provide 75,000m 2of office, residential and leisure space, which it is hoped will provide up to 2,000 jobs when complete.

The architect hopes to offer a scheme that uses the triangular site to build 'an identity for the project and open public access from the town centre to the river'.

According to DLG ,the designs incorporate 'strong links with the surrounding area, acting as a catalyst for future regeneration in the town'.

DLG Architects was selected as lead architect for the scheme following a design competition in January. It hopes to submit a detailed planning application for the project in November.
