Day 24: AJ advent calendar - and the building is...

Were you the first to guess the hidden building we have gradually been uncovering in the run up to Christmas?

The building which we have been revealing during the past month was Tecton Group’s Grade I-listed Gorilla House at London Zoo.

Completed in 1934, the building’s radical design includes a revolving structure which surrounds the Gorilla cage in winter time, then slides behind the enclosed half of the cage in summer.

The first correct answer, winning an AJ mug, came from James Bailey, senior architect at AWW on the 3 December.

Malcolm Reading of Malcolm Reading Consultants and Gordon Fleming from ARPL Architects were next to guess the building correctly.

Merry Christmas!
