HKR Architects has received planning permission for its scheme to redevelop the former Irish Times buildings in Dublin's city centre.
The buildings, on Dublin's D'Olier and Fleet Streets in the city's historic core, are being redeveloped for P Elliott & Company.
Under the HKR scheme numbers 8-10 and 13-16 of D'Olier Street will be restored to their 19th-century glory and converted into small commercial premises with 'unique cellar rooms and partial mezzanines under the generous ceilings of the historic interiors'.
Number 16 will be converted into four apartments. The remaining 1,300m2 of space in the upper part of the D'Olier Street complex will be retained as office space.
The planned replacement of the 1950s Fleet Street building will provide 3,200m2 of office space and will, according to the practice, 'free the rear of the D'Olier Street buildings, exposing them within a glazed atrium accessible from Fleet Street'.
