Falconer Chester Hall to build next to Liverpool Philharmonic

Falconer Chester Hall Architects has submitted this mixed-use project in Liverpool for planning.

The scheme, developed by Maghull Developments, is located on Liverpool's famous Hope Street, next door to the Grade II*-listed Philharmonic Hall.

According to the north-west architects, the 15,000m2 project will provide retail and leisure space at ground floor, with commercial offices on the upper floors.

The scheme also includes a roof-top restaurant giving views over the city towards the River Mersey.

Practice partner Adam Hall said: 'The scheme has been received positively by the council so far and the developer is looking to be on site by the middle of next year.'

WHAT HOPE?
It doesn’t warrant much Hope for architecture. These designs do nothing to enhance the area and “You must do better” than this to convince us that the development Cabal of Liverpool Vision and the city council planning department and English Heritage who welcomes this development, neither want to understand or are capable of understanding the need to integrate a blend of design with our Georgian heritage.
Is this best you can come up with for this world-renowned location in between our two cathedrals.
This is yet another example of why we must improve the planning infrastructure in this city as matter urgency or in 30 years time we will regret it.
