Avebury International has won a contract to design and build 19 zero-carbon affordable apartments in Kent.

According to Ashford Council, the Milton Keynes-based practice was chosen because of its technical innovation and sustainability credentials.

The scheme, commissioned by Kent-based Hyde Housing Group, will each include WAVE construction materials – a thermally insulated structural timber panel system.

The project will also include renewable energy sources and a water management system.

Avebury chief executive Peter Muir said: 'We are absolutely delighted to be working with Kent on this landmark development.'
