Page Park Architects has seen off the likes of Stanton Williams and Schmidt Hammer Lassen to win the contest to design 500 student flats for the University of Warwick.

The Glasgow-based firm also beat fellow finalists Richard Murphy, Fraser Brown MacKenna Architects and David Morley Architects to land the job in south-west Coventry.

The shortlisted firms were asked to draw up concept designs for the first phase of a new accommodation programme, housing up to 500 study bedrooms, close to the 1960s Rootes residences.
More than 110 practices entered the contest launched back in April this year. However the jury panel, chaired by university council member Penny Egan, was unanimous in selecting Page\Park as the winner claiming the practice's 'scheme not only best fit the operational needs of the project but also offered the best relationship between the built development and the high-quality landscape context that exists'.
