New images of Foster's spaceport unveiled – exclusive
Foster + Partners has released new pictures of the world's first Spaceport in New Mexico, USA.
The 9,000m2 scheme, which was first seen in September last year (AJ 05.09.08) will become the new home for Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic venture.
Housing a spaceship hangar and an astronaut terminal control room, as well as visitor facilities, the low-lying building has been designed to blend into the desert landscape and minimise the impact on the historic El Camino Real mission trail nearby.
The New Mexico Space Authority (NMSA), which is driving the proposals forward, has now tendered for contractors to build the centre.
