Architecture's latest batch of up-and-coming talent descended on King's Cross for this year's AJ King's Cross Charrette yesterday.

The select group of 16 practices were given a challenging brief and just six hours to provide their response ahead of a gruelling crit at the end of the day.

Held at the German Gymnasium, located at the centre of Argent's King's Cross redevelopment, the charette inspired schemes stretching from free range urban oases in London's industrial heart to premeditated eco-terrorism.

The distinguished jury consisted of Argent's joint-chief executive Roger Madelin, Camden Council's head of urban design Bob West, The Architectural Review's editor Paul Finch, Will Colthorpe, a project director with Argent and The Architects' Journal's editor Kieran Long.
