Bookmaker Paddy Power has picked Denton Corker Marshall's Manchester Civil Justice Centre as the favourite to win the Stirling Prize, consigning the Westminster Academy, William Hill's favourite, to bottom position.

Paddy Power's odds, at the time of writing, were:
Manchester Civil Justice Centre  8/13
Nord Park Cable Railway  4/1
Accordia  5/1
Royal Festival Hall  6/1
Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA Station  9/1
Westminster Academy at the Naim Dangoor Centre  12/1.

Ken Robertson, communications manager at Paddy Power, which describes itself as the fourth-largest bookmaker in the UK, said: 'With novelty bets like this we tend to put our best guess forward and then let the flow of the money dictate the changes.

'We have only had two bets on Westminster. Several hundred people have placed bets on Manchester Civil Justic Centre.'

But, he said, the levelling of betting is fairly low. 'We won't be retiring on the proceeds,' he added.
