Westminster Academy

Bookmaker William Hill has chosen Allford Hall Monaghan Morris' Westminster Academy as the favourite to win the 2008 Stirling Prize.

The bookies placed the colourful school at 3/1. Next up is Denton Corker Marshall's Manchester Civil Justice Centre at 7/2, followed by Zaha Hadid's Nordpark Cable Railway at 4/1 and Grimshaw's Bijlmer Arena Station at 9/2.

Bringing up the rear at 5/1 are Allies and Morrison's refurbishment of the Royal Festival Hall and the Accordia by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Alison Brooks Architects, and Maccreanor Lavington.

Westminster's lead echoes the findings of the AJ's poll (see right). Although initially Accordia and the Manchester Civil Justice centre were neck and neck , the academy has now surged ahead, with 42 per cent of the vote (246 votes).
