Urban Splash wins planning for Tutti Frutti homes

Urban Splash has won planning permission for the first phase of its Tutti Frutti residential development on the New Islington site in Manchester.

Six of the 26 plots will now be developed into individual houses, each of which will be designed by a team of architects led by the owner of each home.

The practices, which were chosen following a design competition held last year, are: FKDA Architects; Studio Verna; Glas Architects; Sheppard Robson; Chance de Silva Architects; and Roberta Haslam and Richard Daw.

Urban Splash Manchester's director of development, Richard Hattan, said: 'These properties express great individuality and flamboyance, and we believe that they will help us deliver a truly unique streetscape with homes not only of a high visual standard but also of excellent eco standards.'

Urban Splash has yet to sell the remaining 20 plots – each of which is 15m long but with varying widths. They are currently valued at £160,000 each.
