Westminster City Council has finally given the green light to Sheppard Robson's plans for the redevelopment of the London Trocadero in Piccadilly.
The decision, announced last night (8 May), is third time lucky for the practice, backed by London Trocadero Ltd, which has had two previous planning applications rejected at committee hearings.
The scheme will transform the empty upper floors into a 417-bed hotel, designed by Dexter Moren Architects, and provide eight new residential apartments and a community arts space.
Sheppard Robson project architect Louise Merrett said: 'The south-facing aspect and elevation of Lyons Corner make it ideal for residential accommodation.
'The apartments will have their own private foyer entrance on Coventry Street, and have spectacular views across the West End and beyond with access to south-facing balconies.'
