Designer sought for 400 student homes in Warwick

The RIBA has launched a competition to find a design team to mastermind the construction of 400 students homes on the University of Warwick's campus.

Entrants will be asked to come up with 'innovative solutions' for an initial phase of new study bedrooms close to the 1960s Rootes residence on the university site, on the edge of Coventry.

The competition plot sits in the centre of the campus 'within a few minutes walk' of the university's library, main social facilities and arts centre.

Up to six shortlisted architect-led teams will be given an honorarium of £9,000 to produce concept-design proposals.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 19 May.

• Meanwhile the The Crawford Partnership has scooped the RIBA's St Leger Homes competition, which will see the firm extending and overhauling council-owned, one bedroom bungalows across Doncaster.

The practice saw off finalists AIR Architects from London, Leeds-based Bauman Lyons and London- and West Yorkshire-based Cottrell and Vermeulen.
