This is Rem Koolhaas' new headquarters for the Danish Architecture Centre (DAC) in Copenhagen.
Designed by Koolhaas' practice, Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), the 27,000m2 Bryghusgrunden Project on the city's historic waterfront will also house the head offices of the Realdania Foundation [a CABE-like organisation], plus flats, commercial space, public areas and playground facilities.
The building will 'straddle' the busy Christians Brygge ring road and will sit next to the harbour on the site of an old brewery.
Ellen van Loon, OMA partner in charge of the project, said: 'Unlike the typical "stacked" sections where individual programs remain autonomous, the program "heap" of the Bryghusgrunden Project has the elements [DAC, exhibition space, Realdania] stacked in a seemingly random order.
'The public program, the urban routes and the architecture centre reach into the heart of the building and create a broad range of interactions between the different program parts.'
