High winds batter AHMM's Unity building

The recent high winds have taken their toll on Allford Hall Monaghan Morris' (AHMM's) RIBA Award-winning Unity building in Liverpool, as the images below show.

According to onlookers, a glass window was 'sucked out' of the south-facing wall of the 27-storey residential block – smashing on a paved terrace below and cracking tiles.

AHMM said it was unaware of the problem and contractor Laing O'Rourke refused to comment.

The £60 million mixed-use office and apartment building was completed last year and boasts some of the the most expensive penthouses in Liverpool.

Well we were expecting it to last somewhere in the region of 10 years before it fell apart it just shows how wrong you can be.

At least it now looks like an authentic Liverpool building.
