Assael's the best boss in architecture, says Times

The happiest staff in the world of architecture can still be found snuggling up to John Assael (pictured), according to The Sunday Times' latest list of the nicest of the nice.
Assael Architecture powered up the paper's 'Best 100 Small Companies to Work For' league, reaching number 22 in the chart – meaning the practice is 19 places nicer than last year, but not as nice as in 2006, when the firm came an impressive seventh.
Even so, the practice is streets ahead of any other architectural outfit in the hit parade, which was won by the contented folk at charity Christians Against Poverty.
The second-place practice (a new entry at 62) was Sheffield-based goody-two-shoes HLM Architects, which is, incongruously, working on some major ministry of defence projects.
Below HLM, at number 95, was Leeds- and Leicester-based firm Stephen George and Partners – another new entry.
And finally, BPTW Partnership appears at number 98, having slipped 41 places since 2006.
Meanwhile, socially conscious developer Urban Splash, a shining star of contentedness in 2006 (twinkling at 25), has dropped off the list completely…
