Olympic Park design team revealed

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has announced that LDA Design and US landscape architect Hargreaves Associates have been appointed to design the Olympic Park.
Hargreaves – which designed the Sydney Olympic Park – and London and Oxford-based LDA Design will also work with three up-and-coming London-based firms: BBUK, Kinnear Landscape Architects and Sarah Price Landscapes.
Early plans for the 110ha park's legacy mode include the replacement of Games-mode tarmac and asphalt with swathes of meadows, wetlands, orchards, allotments and lawns. The park's McAslan-designed combined heat-and-power station will run from willow grown in the wetlands.
Other features include a 120m-tall wind turbine, canoeing facilities, cricket pitches, climbing facilities and BMX parks. There will also be 'concert field' adjacent to the HOK-designed stadium which will hold 50,000 spectators.
Ricky Burdett, ODA chief adviser on architecture and urbanism, said the LDA Design/Hargreaves team would 'bring a fresh design approach to the Olympic Park that will make the most of the site's existing natural features and water courses with confident and robust solutions for the Games and after.'
The park will open in legacy mode in 2014.
