Foster renovates Alpine hotel
Foster + Partners has just completed its renovation and extension to the Dolder Grand Hotel, perched above Lake Zurich in the Swiss Alps.
The project is part of the practice's wider masterplan for the 'Dolderberg', which includes a golf course, tennis courts, ice rink and sculpture park.
Foster + Partners has restored the original 19th-century hotel, while adding two new glass and metal wings to the building.
The new additions double the hotel's accommodation, and provide a whopping 4,000m2 spa, complete with 25m swimming pool.
Foster + Partners collaborated with local architect Itten + Brechbühl. The hotel will open its doors to the public in April
