DRLTEN pavilion set to open

This is the first glimpse of the nearly completed pavilion designed by the Architectural Association's Design Research Laboratory (DRL) (AJ 21.02.08).

Located in Bedford Square, central London, the DRLTEN pavilion is the brainchild of Alan Dempsey (DRL class of 2002) and Alvin Huang (2004), both of whom are now at Future Systems.

The complex pavilion is made up of 850 concrete panels with 2,000 joints, and is built on a bed of sand for stability.

The pavilion will open later this month.
