Welcome to the (zero-carbon) Good Life

HTA Architects and Barratt Homes have given the world a glimpse into the future by revealing computer-generated images of the UK's first zero-carbon community.

And if the pictures are anything to go by, one day we'll all be living on an allotment.

The pictures show the Hanham Hall site in Bristol, which was the focus of the first Carbon Challenge organised by English Partnerships to create a net zero-carbon district of 200 units.

According to Barratt, 'allotment gardens and greenhouses will be installed to encourage the residents to engage in horticulture'.

So, it seems our future will be one long episode of The Good Life.
