Sheppard Robson Architects has won the competition to redevelop the western end of King Street in Hammersmith, west London.
The project, backed by developers Grainger and Helical Bar, will provide an 11,000m2 civic office building, 290 new private and affordable homes, a new footbridge and 5,202m2 of retail space.
According to the practice, the design is based on the linking of a series of 'quality public spaces', including a new public square, which will be framed by the exiting listed town hall, and the new buildings to the east and west.
Design director Dan Burr said: 'We believe that creating a joined up public realm, linking the historic Hammersmith waterfront to King Street, is key to developing a viable mixed use proposal that will secure the long term regeneration that Hammersmith needs.'
