Lottery cash keeps Cutty Sark and Mary Rose afloat

The future of two of the nation's most famous ships – the Cutty Sark and the Mary Rose - have been assured after receiving hefty Lottery grants.
In Portsmouth, Wilkinson Eyre's scheme to build a museum around the Mary Rose in has won the go-ahead after it was awarded a £21 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
And, in Greenwich, south-east London, the stricken Cutty Sark – for which Youmeheshe is designing a visitor centre - has been granted £11 million for further restoration after it was badly damaged by fire last year. (AJ 21.05.07)
The Mary Rose windfall means the 16th-century warship will now have a permanent museum – 25 years after the Tudor warship was raised from the seabed (AJ 17.01.08).
Wilkinson Eyre will be joined on the £35 million scheme by interior architect Pringle Brandon and exhibition designer Land Design Studio.
