Duggan Morris Architects has won the green light for this mixed-use scheme in Catford, south London.
The project will provide six commercial and seven residential units on a small brownfield site, and will also restore an existing commercial building.
According to the London-based practice, two flat types have been devised. The first is a series of two-bedroom 'strip' units arranged laterally on the roof of the existing commercial building.
The remaining residential units are arranged on top of each other, creating a loft-style design.
Duggan Morris director Joe Morris said: 'Our aim is to provide unique and desirable apartments and spaces for small businesses that are both attractive to residents and tenants, but also help to regenerate and enhance the existing neighbourhood.
'Solar preheaters and green and brown roofs, highly insulated with recycled material, will be used, while all materials and fittings will be specified from sustainable sources.'
