Hodder's troubled Clissold Leisure Centre

1478 – Days Stephen Hodder's recently reopened Clissold Leisure Centre in East London was closed (the pool was shut between 28 November 2003 and 14 December 2007– defects numbered 59).

 

 

 

 

Hodder's Berners Pool, also troubled

1,178 – Days Hodder's Berners Pool in Grange over Sands, Cumbria, was open (from 24 April 2003 to 14 July 2006). When it closed it had debts of £200,000.

 

 

 

The turbine-free roof of Palestra

£436,000 – Cost of the wind turbines on top of SMC Alsop's Palestra building in south London, taken down after only three months (on January 29).

 

 

 

 

Pathfinder housing

Condemned housing in a Pathfinder zone

16 – Houses built to date by Elevate East Lancashire – the Government Pathfinder programme – which has spent £160 million on projects since its creation in 2004.

1,389 – Houses bulldozed under the Elevate East Lancashire's housing market renewal initiative covering Blackburn, Pendle, Hyndburn and Rossendale.

 

The Scottish Parliament building

3 – Number of architects who have so far tried – and failed – to draw up plans for the Northern Ballet's new home. Earlier this year DLA followed David Chipperfield and Carey Jones out of the door.

£912,442 – Annual cost of maintenance on the Stirling-Prize winning Scottish Parliament building, designed by EMBT/RMJM.

 

 

Stephenson Bell Quay Bar

Stephenson Bell's Quay Bar is knocked down

9 – Years Stephenson Bell's Stirling-shortlisted Quay Bar, Manchester survived before being demolished in November.

 

 

 

3XN Museum of Liverpool

3XN's scrapped Museum of Liverpool design

0 –  Tonnes of travertine stone which will now clad the Museum of Liverpool. Danes 3XN left the project in November after arguing about, among other things, the stone facade. The museum wants Jura.

 

 

 

Snohetta and Spence's Turner Contemporary design

£2.5 million – Cost of design fees racked up by the design team, including Snohetta & Spence Associates on the doomed Turner Contemporary Mark I in Margate.

£0 – Amount recovered by Kent County Council to date.

 

 

Levitt Bernstein's doomed Caspar scheme

7 – Years Levitt Bernstein's award-winning Caspar social housing scheme in Leeds stood before plans for a replacement were approved this month. The building was evacuated two years ago due to severe structural problems.

6 – Number of practices so far selected by Lend Lease from the 47-strong long list to work on the £4 billion Olympic village.
