Michael Trentham Architects has submitted this scheme for nine residential units on a brownfield site in Clapham for planning approval
The 715m2 project, for developer Sherwood Street, consists of a variety of different units, in one-bed, two-bed, three-bed and four-bed sizes.
The scheme is designed as a contemporary interpretation of the existing Victorian street, keeping the same white render and vertical rhythm and reinterpreting the first-floor glazed timber-frame windows in structural glass.
The same structural glass box is used at the rear of the project to enlarge and animate the living area.
Practice founder Michael Trentham said: 'We wanted to keep the palette to three simple materials: timber, render and glass, to create a simple architecture that has a unique feeling of light and space provided by the glass boxes.'
