HOK has revealed proposals to transform the former European headquarters of shaving giant Gillette into a luxury hotel in west London.
The firm's London office will retain the exterior of the Banister Fletcher-designed Grade II-listed building, while providing a 505-bedroom hotel complete with swimming pool and health spa.
Appointed by developer Bonnington Group, HOK will also provide 47,000m2 of business space – expected to create around 2,200 jobs – as Hounslow Council called for an 'employment-led' solution.
According to HOK, a new glass atrium at the centre of the building will house the hotel's conference facilities and dining area. The scheme also meets the Mayor of London's target of 20 per cent on-site renewable energy generation.
The project was granted planning approval last week.
