Foster + Partners has unveiled yet another scheme in the Middle East with these plans for a new city in Oman.
The project, which will cater for a population of 200,000 people, is called Al Madina Al Zarqa or 'The Blue City', and is located on a stretch of coastline just to the west of the capital Muscat.
A self-contained city, Foster's masterplan includes schools, a university, stadia, golf courses and a concert hall, as well as a marina, hotels and extensive retail space.
Foster is also building a new city in Qatar, various schemes in Jordan including an airport, and projects in the United Arab Emirates such as the zero-carbon market scheme in the heart of Abu Dhabi.
According to Foster + Partners, this latest scheme will provide a 'sustainable and contemporary lifestyle' to its residents, with the 'optimum urban density'.
