Zaha Hadid unwraps Roca gallery in Chelsea

[First look + plans] Zaha Hadid Architects has completed this 1,100m² showroom for bathroom manufacturer Roca in Chelsea Harbour, London

The façade and interior of the Chelsea Harbour showroom, which will also provide an exhibition and meeting space for the company, was inspired by the movement of water.

Zaha Hadid explained: ‘Our work imbues architecture with the intricacy and beauty of natural forms. Using a formal language derived from the movement of water, the Roca London Gallery has been eroded and polished by fluidity; generating a sequence of dynamic spaces carved from this fascinating interplay between architecture and nature.’

Roca Bathroom Products Division senior managing director Miguel Angel Munar added:  ‘At the Roca London Gallery, Zaha Hadid has perfectly interpreted all our brand values as well as our company philosophy in a singularly exciting and tangible way.’

The facade is made from 2 metre by 4 metre panels of fibre reinforced concrete which weigh 800 kilograms each.
