[FIRST LOOK] This scheme for a girls’ school in Malawi, backed by pop star Madonna, has started on site

The school, designed to accommodate 450 students in sub-Saharan Africa, is designed by New York based studioMDA and London-based engineers-to-the-stars Adams Kara Taylor (AKT).

The Raising Malawi Academy for Girls will host a library, administration building, dining hall, gymnasium, wellness centre, sports field, 30 classrooms, 12 dormitories and 18 staff houses on a 46ha site.

The scheme funded by global star Madonna is expected to be completed by 2012.
