Wimbledon unveils new Centre Court roof

Wimbledon has unveiled the soon-to-be completed Centre Court sliding roof, designed by Populous (formerly HOK Sport) and Capita Symonds

The 3,000 tonne concertina-style structure can be closed in 10 minutes and will be operational from this year’s championships at the All England Club. Together with the roof, the club has had to install an air management system to keep the covered area from overheating.

The test event on 17 May will feature a mixed doubles match between Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Tim Henman and Kim Clijsters.
