Willson & Bell unveil radically revised Sierra Leone project

London-based Willson & Bell has revealed the latest images of its Equiano community learning centre in Sierra Leone

The £1 million library scheme in Waterloo, a suburb of Freetown, was first unveiled in December 2007 (see bottom right) and was to have completed this summer but due to funding issues the project has been substantially reworked.

Practice co-founder Nick Willson said: ‘Due to the credit crunch the funding was reduced. However this gave us the opportunity to reassess the scheme and also the brief and requirements of the project with the client.

‘This scheme is better and will deliver the required literacy programmes.’

The project is now expected to go on site in October this year.
