Video: RMJM wins 2014 Games village

RMJM has landed the £300 million Commonwealth Games athletes village in Glasgow

The village will accommodate 8,000 athletes and officials during the event. Following the completion of the games, further housing will be built on the 38.5 ha site. In total there will be 1,400 homes and a 120-bed old-people’s home.

RMJM form part of the City Legacy Consortium, which includes CCG, Cruden, Mactaggart & Mickel, WH Malcolm, Davis Langdon and WSP Group.

Work is planned to begin next year and will be completed six months before the Games start in 2014.

Paul Stallan, European design director of RMJM said: ‘RMJM have designed a beautiful and inspired urban village for the east end of Glasgow, a village that will accommodate visiting athletes in the first instance but most importantly post the 2014 Games will provide a wonderful environment for a new family focused community to grow and regenerate.’
