Union North wins planning for Lancaster student flats

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS] Liverpool-based Union North Architects has won planning for this 96-bed student flat development in Lancaster City Centre

Described as a ‘hybrid’ proposal, the £3.9 million Victoria Court project in the central conservation area combines ‘new-build and restoration typologies’.

The main elevation features an extended stone frontage, sitting above the existing facade. This is punched through with a ‘matrix of gold-framed study bedroom windows’.

Other facades will be clad in routed metallic gold-coloured rain screen.

The development for City Block in Penny Street is expected to start on site in May and complete in autumn 2012.
