UK exclusive: Hadid reveals new Venetian shopping centre

[FIRST LOOK + SECTIONS] Zaha Hadid Architects has unveiled this €42 million shopping centre in the seaside resort of Jesolo, north of Venice in Italy

The Jesolo Magica complex will also house offices, restaurants, a conference centre, bars and a gym, and is being hailed as a catalyst for the town’s ‘reinvention and regeneration’.

A practice spokesperson said: ‘The disparate elements of the scheme fit together to form a coherent field of buildings, each one separate, but logically connected to the next in a continually changing ensemble. The volumes encompassing the retail centre “open up” around a central space, like the petals of a flower.’
