Top of the world: Reiach & Hall bags prize for Glasgow Hospital

Reiach & Hall Architects’s New Stobhill Hospital at Glasgow has been named the best smaller scale hospital in the world

The £65 million project (AJ 25.06.09) took the ‘best International Health Project under 40,000m² ’ crown this week in Toronto at the 2010 Design & Health International Academy Awards.

Andy Law, director at Reiach and Hall, said: ‘This is a really special reward for years of hard work. The whole team is proud of the building and the positive effect it has on its visitors and staff.

‘It is very much a collaborative achievement and we could never have created the design without the tremendous involvement and commitment of the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde project team.’

Opened in 2009 the PPP scheme has so far landed the Roses Design Award 2009 for ‘Best Public Building’ and a Civic Trust Award 2009 Commendation and the Glasgow Institute of Architects ‘Best Healthcare Building’ Award 2009.

Reiach and Hall Architects last month also took the AJ100 Scottish Regional Award.
