[FIRST LOOK + PLANS + DATA] Students from the Tog ‘live-build’ summer school erected a temporary wooden lighthouse on the Isle of Tiree
The 5m-high structure, which was built over six days, was designed to act as a ‘beacon for the project and the ambition of future summer schools.’
Factfile - what is Tog
Tog is a live-build summer school. It is open to anyone ‘with a passion for the craft of building’; including students, architects, engineers or apprentices.
The school puts on a live-build event in a remote part of the Scottish Highlands & Islands, where participants stay as part of a week long residency to help design and build that year’s project.
Tog was conceived by a team of recent Scottish architecture and engineering graduates as a means to address the gaps they believe are missing from conventional education. The emphasis is on ‘teaching practical building skills and collaborative teamwork on real projects in beautiful locations’.
