Three selected for Cumbrian cricket trials

The AJ can reveal the schemes by the three practices shortlisted in the competition to design a new pavilion for Coniston Cricket Club

The concepts for the £100,000 building, which will replace ‘a series of sheds containing multitudinous lawnmowers’, have been drawn up by finalists Ullmayer Sylvester Architects, Stanton Williams’ architect Larissa Johnston with structural engineer Rodrigues Associates, and artist/architect collective The Schtip.

Launched in March this year, the contest attracted 83 entries from around the world, including submissions from Malaysia, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Sweden and the UAE.

The community-led, self-build project is being backed by the Coniston Institute and Cumbrian collective Grizedale Arts.

The teams have until the end of October to submit their final designs.
