'Streamlined' RIBA Awards open for entries
The RIBA has called on architects to submit projects to its ‘simplified’ annual awards programme
The call for entries to the 2012 RIBA Awards scheme was announced as the institute unveiled a new streamlined system for submitting projects.
A new ‘single entry-point’ for award entries has replaced the old system which forced architects to submit their projects separately for certain awards.
A RIBA statement explained: ‘[Practices] need only enter a project once for it to be considered for all awards in the programme.
‘This includes RIBA Regional Awards, Regional Special Awards such as conservation and sustainability, RIBA Awards and the RIBA Stirling Prize.’
Goodfellow Communications director Steven Harding said the shift would make life ‘much easier’ for practices and was a ‘sensible streamlining of what was quite a confusing system of awards.’
‘I think the change will allow more attention to be paid on the merits of submissions rather than the process, which can only be a good thing,’ he said.
The entry criteria for the awards remain unchanged. All projects by RIBA chartered member or RIBA international fellow are eligible for entry.
The deadline for London and overseas awards submissions is Friday 17 February and for all other nations and regions the deadline is Friday 24 February.
