Stirling Prize 2012: Architects back O'Donnell + Tuomey, the public wants Populous

The public and the profession disagree over who they want to win this year’s Stirling Prize, according to polls by the AJ and the Guardian

AJ subscribers think the Lyric Theatre by O’Donnell + Tuomey will win the 2012 Stirling Prize, with Hepworth Wakefield and Stanton William’s Sainsbury Laboratory second and third choices.

However Guardian readers chose the London Olympic Stadium, by Populous, as their favourite, with the Hepworth Wakefield also receiving significant support. The full results are below:

The 2012 RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year will be announced on Saturday 13 October at 9pm a special event in Manchester hosted by BBC Radio 4 presenter Mark Lawson. The ceremony will be streamed live on www.architecture.com from 9.20pm to 9.50pm..
