Stephen Hodder confirms RIBA presidency bid

Stirling Prize winner Stephen Hodder has emerged as the first candidate to be nominated for the next RIBA president

The Manchester-based architect (pictured) is backed by current RIBA vice presidents Jane Duncan, Peter Oborn and Oliver Richards.

Paul Davis, John Assael and former RIBA presidents Sunand Prasad and Owen Luder have also backed him.

Hodder is so far understood to be the only candidate throwing their hat into the ring for the position which would commence in summer 2013.

RIBA chartered members and honorary fellows are eligible to stand for the presidency. Candidates must be nominated by at least 60 current, chartered members.

The deadline for nominations is 15 May.
