SOM bags Vietnam ‘eco’ masterplan

[First look] SOM has been appointed to design this 375 hectare ‘eco-urban’ mixed-use development in Danang, Vietnam

Drawn up by the company’s London office, the Golden Hills scheme will create a ‘complete eco-urban living environment’ for up to 30,000 people on a site currently prone to flooding.

Running 2.7km along the Cu De River, the masterplan features a number of ‘storm water strategies’ including a terraced landscape and waterfront eco-park.

The enormous scheme features a village centre, a business district, and an education, sports and leisure district.  A civic piazza within the piazza will host shops and cafes.

The project is SOM’s third recent ‘major win’ in the country, following contracts to design ‘FPT City’ in Danang and ‘Green Tech City’ in Hanoi.
