Sansome Hall to revamp Newcastle's Theatre Royal

Sansome Hall Architects has been appointed to lead the design team for the £3 million restoration of the Frank Matcham-designed, Grade I-listed Theatre Royal in Newcastle upon Tyne

The Milton Keynes-based practice was selected from a shortlist of RHWL Arts Team, Tim Foster Associates, LCE Andrzej Blonski, Napper Architects and Burrell Foley Fischer.

Work on the project has already started with completion of the fully restored auditorium due in 2011.

Sansome Hall is working with Charcoalblue, King Shaw and FK Howard on the project and will work with Dr David Wilmore of Theatresearch, who produced the Conservation Management Plan for Newcastle City Council.
