Robinson Design goes under

Bradford-based architectural practice Robinson Design has gone into liquidation, it was confirmed last week

The firm had debts of almost £2million with more than £50,000 owed in wages to staff and another £532,000 to Yorkshire Bank when it officially entered a creditors voluntary liquidation.

The practice, then under the name Robinson Architects, almost disappeared in October 2008 but was bought from its administrators by the newly formed Robinson Design along with the trading names Robinson Design Group, Robinson Consulting, and Robinson Geo Engineering.

Paul Stanley, partner at Begbies Traynor which is administering the insolvency, said: ‘I suspect that the cuts made by [the new] management [of Robinson Design] at the start weren’t deep enough.’

He added: ‘The property recession has been longer and harsher than anyone predicted.’
