RMJM's £81 million Ayr campus opens doors

RMJM’s £81 million Ayr campus for the University of the West of Scotland and Scottish Agricultural College has officialy opened

Designed by the practice’s Scottish studio, the new four-storey 18,000m² building houses teaching facilities, lecture theatres, library, music and performance suites, television and radio studios, as well as science and design laboratories, a refectory, sports hall and students’ union.

According to project director Neil McLean the scheme’s inspiration came from its mature woodland setting. He said: ‘The building is designed to be sympathetic to its setting, maximising the internal experience of the buildings users by capturing views back to the landscape.’
