RIBA Awards 2012: AJ launches special coverage

The AJ will reveal all 164 RIBA Awards 2012 winners in a special edition of the magazine on 21 June which will be followed by an RIBA debate about the victors July 17

What do the best British schools look like in 2012? Who has designed the best offices, houses and public buildings in the last 12 months?

The AJ’s RIBA Awards Winners’ annual special edition in association with Sapa Building System, arranges the best of British architecture by typology rather than region to provide a true sense of the nation’s architecture today.

Published on 21 June, the bumper issue will then provide the focus for a debate at the RIBA on the findings, to be chaired Paul Finch. Entitled British Architecture Now - A review of the RIBA Awards 2012, this event will take place on 17 July.

Last year the AJ created a magazine cover for each of the 89 RIBA Awards winners (examples are shown above).

Next week’s 88-page issue will feature the winners of the 48 national awards, the nine EU accolades, the 13 international prizes and the 94 regional awards.
