Revealed: KPF's new London skyscraper
KPF has unveiled the first image of its proposed new 35-storey tower in the City of London
The AJ broke the news about the planned tower close to Richard Rogers’ Lloyds of London building back in March (see AJ 15.03.2012).
Officially known as 52-54 Lime Street, the 190m-tall ‘scalpel-shaped’ tower will become the new home for US insurance firm WR Berkley.
The global giant is working on a number of super-tall schemes across the capital, including the redevelopment of King’s Reach tower on London’s Southbank
William Berkley, founder and chairman of WR Berkley Corporation said: ‘The proposed development of 52-54 Lime Street is an integral component of our international growth strategy. With the continuing expansion of our operations here, it makes sense to invest in a landmark building which will provide a strong base for that growth.’
Subject to planning approval, construction on the project could start by 2013 and it is scheduled to complete in 2017.
