Revealed: Designs of Carlsberg Brewery revamp finalists

Carlsberg has unveiled designs by all the shortlisted practices, including finalists Wilkinson Eyre, in the competition to transform the Danish drinks giant’s brewhouse complex in Copenhagen, Denmark

The winner of the international contest will be given the task of transforming the historic New Carlsberg Brewhouse, which attracts half a million visitors a year, into a new ‘Brand and Experience Centre’.

Wilkinson Eyre’s mainly British team was named on a five-strong shortlist last year alongside Danish stars BIG, working with UK-based Davis Langdon.

The finalists also include a collaboration between London office of museum experts Ralph Appelbaum Associates, Arup and Danes PLH Architects

A winner will be announced in late March.

Probably the best shortlist ever? Carlsberg Brewery finalists revealed

A team led by Brits Wilkinson Eyre Architects has been named on the shortlist to transform the New Carlsberg Brewhouse in Copenhagen, Denmark into a ‘Brand and Experience Centre’

Other finalists include Denmark’s BIG, working with UK-based Davis Langdon, and a team featuring the London office of museum experts Ralph Appelbaum Associates

The Danish drinks company launched an international design competition to overhaul its brewhouse complex, which attracts half a million visitors a year, back in May.

An exhibition of all entries will go on display in February 2012.
