Populous opens new LA offiice

London-based Populous has opened a new office in Los Angeles led by American architect Dan Meis

The practice behind London’s Olympic Stadium, the retractable roof at Wimbledon and Soccer City in South Africa now operates from 12 offices, half of which in the United States.

Dan Meis, who is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), will head the new office. His Paul Brown Stadium (pictured) was the first NFL stadium to win an AIA design award.

He said: ‘I am very excited to play a part in that vision and to offer clients the kind of out of the box creativity I have always strived for with the support of the world’s most experienced architects of this building type.’

Earl Santee, Populous senior principal said: ‘From his work both in the United States and abroad, Dan has established himself as one of the most influential designers in our industry, and we will look to his expertise as we continue to expand our design capabilities and redefine an industry pushing every border around the world.’
